What is Karma Yoga?
Every action (karma) that we perform puts out a vibration of energy—leading to happiness or suffering. The practice of Karma Yoga teaches us how to bring all our actions, thoughts, and feelings into harmony with our higher Self, helping us to feel that God is the doer.
As we learn to use our energy in service to others we become happier and live in ever greater joy and freedom!
“Make service your goal, and you will see the entire plan of your life change.”
— Paramhansa Yogananda
To practice Karma Yoga, it can be helpful to begin to infuse our daily lives with an attitude of selfless service in the following ways:
🕉️Practice the presence of God in every moment, inviting divine consciousness into your daily activities
🕉️Embrace the idea that every individual you encounter is an aspect of the divine and learn to nurture their highest potential
🕉️Extend the practice of joyful service in all aspects of our lives: through our work, in our relationships, in our creative endeavors, and in our daily spiritual practices
Then, Karma Yoga helps us to discover how serving God’s work becomes a pathway to our own spiritual growth and oneness with the divine
“Activities that are undertaken in a spirit of joyous service have the effect of putting one in tune with the infinite source of all power. The more consciously one acts as a channel for divine energy, the more he finds his inner powers actually increasing. If one expends his energy after uplifting it, his activities bring him more, not less, peace, freedom, and joy.”
—Swami Kriyananda
